The 2012 cricket season is here - Welcome.
Here's to a victorious 2012 season on and off the pitch.
Wembdon CC is located on the edge of the Village Wembdon, in the heart of Somerset.
Formed in 1920 its a thriving, ambitious club - constantly expanding, providing competitive and social cricket for men and women of all ages. We also have a successful youth development section for boys and girls from the ages of 5 to 16.
Wembdon is a Somerset Focus Club and is Club Mark Accredited. 2012 will be Wembdon CC second year involved in the 'Chance to Shine' Initiative and will see us deliver around 200 hours of coaching in 10 local schools.
Wembdon CC experienced a agonising 2011 campaign with club sides finishing high in their divisions but falling just short of promotion in the final weeks. The 1stXI had its best season for some time but will be looking to go one better next year, there was some success for the undefeated Sunday XI who clinched their division's title.
We compete in the West of England Premier League and the Somerset Cricket League on Saturday's running 4 sides, whilst on a Sunday we compete in the SCS Taunton District League.
Wembdon also compete in SCB Major Cup, Minor Cup and the ECB National T20 K/O Cup (formerly 'Cokspur Cup')all of which are the 20/20 format. Plus the Persimmons National Village Cup which we have achieved regional success in recent years.
Wembdon CC has a thriving youth set up with boys and girls from 5 upwards involved and invited to join. The Junior Section runs teams at Under 9, Under 11, Under 13 and Under 15 levels in the Taunton & District Youth League. Wembdon CC is a very good club for juniors looking to step into cricket and have produced countless District and County Representatives over the years and can boast Somerset CCC Head Coach as a former Wembdon player.
2012 will also see the 4th year of our female section who after competing in several friendly hard ball fixtures last season will look to join the local league under stewardship of Coraley and Sam.
